Reimagining Practitioner Support for Women Aged 45 and Beyond

With funding from Asthma Australia, our team is leading a nation-wide study, the first of its kind, to uncover why women aged 45 and over experience the greatest number of asthma-related deaths in Australia, and what we can do to develop new ways that healthcare can support older women with asthma to live well. Have a read below to learn more about what we are doing and ways to get involved.

Co-Design

We are collaborating with our Women with Asthma Co-Design Committee over a series of collaborative workshops as they guide our research study from start to finish. Informed by their lived experience, our Co-Design Committee are sharing their expertise on what it is like to be a woman over 45 living with asthma in Australia to ensure our study is meaningful, relevant and inclusive and that we are asking the right questions in the right way.

Focus Groups

We are running online focus groups with women aged 45 and over across the country to understand their experiences of living with asthma and what support they want and need to live well.

Resource Development

Using the findings from our focus groups, we will be collaborating with our Co-Design Committee to develop resources that will enable healthcare to better support older women with asthma to live well. Watch this space as our study progresses.
